The Department of Education Regional Office’s move in the full implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education as mandated by the Responsible Parenthood – Reproductive Health Law, got the backing from the population officers and workers through Commission on Population and Development Caraga.
The DepEd-Caraga conducted virtual regional online training on March 15 and 23 to implement the Comprehensive Sexuality Education to sharpen their knowledge and skills among teachers in integrating into the curriculum.
CSE is a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality that is scientific, age, and developmentally appropriate. It aims to equip the adolescents and youth with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to empower them to realize their health, well-being, and dignity.
The Department of Education targets implementing the said program in the K-12 Basic Education Classes where the students’ ages are appropriate for sexual and reproductive knowledge.
Meanwhile, POPCOM Caraga Regional Director highlighted the spike of teen pregnancy in the region. Director Makinano encourages every teacher who attended to double its effort to give correct information and knowledge to their student for their healthy well-being.
Together with DepEd, POPCOM-Caraga strengthens its thrust in conferring correct and trustworthy information to adolescents and youth regarding sexual health development.
