The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) – Caraga hastened its Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) and Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP) programs in the region as its contribution to promote the health and safety of the families. 

In the official data accumulated by the regional office from January to May this year, a total of 29,048 individuals of reproductive age reached through various RPFP demand generation activities conducted in the region. The provinces of Surigao del Norte with 2,772 and Surigao del Sur with 2,751 respectively have the most RPFP demand generation activities conducted in their communities. As for the cities, Butuan City has 4,265 and is followed by Tandag City with 493.

Meanwhile, AHDP reached a total of 5, 179 adolescents, 2, 091 parents, 302 teachers, and 1,081 significant adults from January to June through different demand generation activities conducted in the region. Provinces of Agusan del Sur with 1,813 and Surigao del Sur with 1,274.  Tandag City with 1,067 and Surigao City with 397 carried out AHDP activities in the region. 

POPCOM-Caraga keeps on pushing and encouraging local partners in carrying out the main thrusts to empower couples and individuals to have the number, timing, and spacing of children they want in the context of informed choice and responsible parenthood. As well as for teens, to have age-appropriate life skill-based information on sexual and reproductive health to prevent early pregnancies and repeated unplanned pregnancies in Caraga region.
